We had our portraits taken by a young, upcoming photographer from our church. You'll be seeing a few more of the photos in the Christmas cards we send out...soon.

Game Day

Flashback to seventeen years ago--I was once a young freshman nervously yet excitedly about to begin my college career in a brand new town, far from home and everything I ever knew. When I first stepped foot onto campus, I knew that some things were about to change, though I had no way to anticipate just how much or in what way. That college campus was the University of Southern California. Unfortunately, I was only able to attend there for one year, but I was fortunate that it was my freshman year, the best year of my entire college career!!

This past weekend, I was able to visit the hallowed grounds of my former campus and relive some of the glory of my freshman escapades.

~USC vs. Notre Dame tailgating event~
The entire campus and grounds surrounding the LA Memorial Coliseum was filled with thousands upon thousands of tailgaters. It was quite a sight to see students and alumni, young and old, come out to support their college football team.

Poor Tommy Trojan!
I couldn't tell if this was a prank or just protection for old Tommy.

Wearing our colors--I know, I look like I belong on Hogwart's campus!

My friend and old lab partner, Paul, and his wife Roselle.

Their adorable girls!

At the game

Half-time

We were very fortunate. We actually had nose-bleeder seats, but some Domers offered to trade tickets so we could sit closer and so that their group could all sit together. It worked out in our favor, except for one thing....We ended up sitting in a sea of green--Notre Dame fans!!! Oh, and did I mention that toward the last quarter it began to rain...HARD!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

On our way to Los Angeles, we stopped by Glendale to visit the Americana at Brand since we remembered how festive it was during the holidays.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Each year, there are a number of tree lighting ceremonies that take place around the Bay Area to kick off the holiday season. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, we'd never actually had the opportunity to attend one...until yesterday. After church, we hopped onto the ferry and headed for Pier 39 to watch a Disney-sponsored tree lighting. The pier was decorated in holiday lights and decor as the air was filled with Christmas songs sung by a children's choir. Everywhere, crowds were bundled up in hats and coats--it was actually very cold!--while participating in the merriment with hot chocolate or hot apple cider in hand. So glad we went.

waiting in the coffee shop for our ferry

Had to visit this shop for our very own little lefty--
that's right, Andre is a lefty!

Surprise! Bumped into a friend and his family.

The tree is lit! Coit Tower and the tip of the Transamerica building to the left.

And to cap off the evening, we ran into yet another family from our church.
Andre's buddy, Noah.

Yellow Belt

Andre participated in his first promotion testing this past weekend and passed. We're very proud of him!

Snoopy and Co.

There was a homeschool day at the Charles Schulz Museum, and a large group of us homeschooling families attended.

Cartooning instruction by a professional cartoonist.
Very cool!

Ellee trying her hand.

Andre, too.

His attempt at Charlie Brown?!

The kids (and some mommies) all went ice skating afterward.
It was Andre's first time and he didn't do too bad. Unfortunately,
I was unable to take photos as I was on the ice with him,
making sure he didn't fall too badly or collide with other skaters.
