After about eight sessions of karate, I FINALLY gave in and invested in a uniform! Andre had been begging me for months, but I kept putting it off. Now that he has his official uniform, he is so thrilled.
A pair of gargantuan arachnids seem to have taken up residence in our dining room--temporarily, I hope. (Wink, wink) I don't usually decorate for Halloween, but this year, I thought it wouldn't hurt to get a little more festive than usual.

For the past week or so, Andre has been begging me to play chess. I have no idea where he got this sudden desire! The problem is I have no idea how to play the game, nor have I ever attempted to. So what's a mom to do? I went online and read the instructions, I watched how-to videos on youtube. I came away understanding the object of the game and how the pieces move, but with no concept of strategy whatsoever. Fortunately, his father has played a little, so here he is trying to teach the little guy some of the finer points of the game.
These are a few of some of the more fun things the little guy's been working on this month.
Just thought I'd provide a glimpse into the area where the little guy and I have been spending a larger part of our days of late. It still looks like our old office, but a lot more elementary!
