Karate Kid

After about eight sessions of karate, I FINALLY gave in and invested in a uniform! Andre had been begging me for months, but I kept putting it off. Now that he has his official uniform, he is so thrilled.

Creepy Crawlies

A pair of gargantuan arachnids seem to have taken up residence in our dining room--temporarily, I hope. (Wink, wink) I don't usually decorate for Halloween, but this year, I thought it wouldn't hurt to get a little more festive than usual.

Pumpkin Patch Time

As I mentioned before, the weather here has been most uncooperative, refusing to match the season we are supposed to be in. Nevertheless, to the pumpkin patch we went! Never mind that it was blazing hot and that the last thing on our minds were bundling up in scarves and sweaters or drinking hot apple cider. The kids still had a blast!

Random Bites

Just had to post this random tidbit because it was just so good. Va de Vi's ahi tartare is divine!

Chess Anyone?

For the past week or so, Andre has been begging me to play chess. I have no idea where he got this sudden desire! The problem is I have no idea how to play the game, nor have I ever attempted to. So what's a mom to do? I went online and read the instructions, I watched how-to videos on youtube. I came away understanding the object of the game and how the pieces move, but with no concept of strategy whatsoever. Fortunately, his father has played a little, so here he is trying to teach the little guy some of the finer points of the game.

Andre is riveted!

Signs of Fall

It's still averaging in the eighties temperature-wise here in California, but during our church picnic, the kids were celebrating the change of seasons by frolicking in the golden leaves of fall. Here is Andre with his buddy, A.J.

Homeschool Central

Just thought I'd provide a glimpse into the area where the little guy and I have been spending a larger part of our days of late. It still looks like our old office, but a lot more elementary!

Picture Day

A fellow homeschooling mommy coordinated a picture day for the homeschoolers in our area. Here is the little guy getting ready for his turn.
